Other Ways to Help

Gui Caldas, from the interior of São Paulo state now studies at the the Music and Arts University in Vienna and plays a viola from the Ilumina Instrument library thanks to a generous donor.

Instrument Library

Most young musicians at Ilumina are playing instruments and bows of a quality far beneath their talent, or in some extreme cases have no instrument on which to reliably practice. Are you a luthier with a big heart? Do you have an instrument sitting unused in your closet? We can match you with an amazing young person who would love to play it, either as a donation to the Ilumina Instrument Library or as a loan, insured by Ilumina.

Airmiles

Did you know that one of the biggest reasons young musicians don’t make it to universities their talent deserves is a lack of resources to buy a plane ticket for the audition? Have airmiles you’d like to donate? Help us get musicians on the plane!

A Cup of Coffee

Be a mentor! Every year, we match our young artists with people who can help them make plans for their future and encourage their dreams in practical ways. The journey to study in a new culture can be tough, especially for young musicians from vulnerable backgrounds. Invite an Ilumina young musician for a cup of coffee, include them at your table, give them financial planning or other practical advice. All of these things are lifelines to a bright future and build beautiful and lasting relationships, in person or online!
